Merrimac Community Charter School opened its doors on September 5, 2006 under the leadership of principal Cliff Thompson (now District Superintendent). Lead Teacher Sid Malek carries on the vision of MCCS where place-based education enhances the learning experience. The education of students is integrated in home, neighborhood and community settings. A multi-age delivery encourages creativity, originality and natural development of leadership skills and is presented in a manner that best suits the abilities of each student. Parent involvement is an integral part of the charter school. The Governance Council consists of parents, teachers and community members and provides an opportunity to participate in the learning programs and curriculum development.
