December 2, 2013
An invitation to our neighbors in the Sauk Prairie Community,
The Sauk Prairie School District invites our residents to join us at special community meetings as we continue to seek your input regarding planning for the future of the school district.
Over 1,000 people participated in our survey and shared excellent thoughts regarding programming and facilities so we can prepare for a bright and promising future. The work that we are doing today is very important as we serve the approximately 2,800 students entrusted into our care, which is 40 more students than we served in the 2012-13 school year. We also have the special opportunity to work with approximately 400 dedicated and talented staff members who serve and support our students and their families.
During the month of December, School Board members and administrators from the school district will be hosting 12 listening sessions for community members to share their thoughts regarding the proposed ideas that are being presented. These events will be at various locations.
Please consider attending one of the two special listening sessions scheduled for the second week in December. On Monday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Middle School there will be an information session prior to the School Board Meeting. On Thursday, December 12 there will be an additional information session at Spruce Street Elementary School in the Gym at 7:00 p.m.
We will be discussing a proposal for referendum that includes building a new Spruce Street Elementary School, adding space to Tower Rock Elementary School to prepare for the addition of Black Hawk students, remodeling Grand Avenue Elementary School, modernizing the Science labs at both the Middle School and High School, making safety enhancements which include renovated entrances, security cameras and door systems, updating playgrounds and other facilities to be accessible to students with disabilities, improving energy efficiency at all facilities and relocating district administration to the new elementary school.
Your comments and questions are very important as we prepare to make our recommendations to the community and School Board in the near future. The Sauk Prairie community has strongly supported the school district in the past and has formed a partnership that will make it even stronger in the future.
We look forward to hearing from each one of you. Thank you for your consideration and thank you for supporting our schools.
